Monitoring of the state

The state of the Rhine is monitored from Switzerland down to the Netherlands. The situation of monitoring stations is indicated on the map of the Rhine watershed.

Biological monitoring and the classification of water plants, algae, fish and invertebrates are of great importance. Characteristics such as water structure (eco-morphological quality) are included into the investigations.
