ICPR – International Commission for the Protection of the Rhine
75 years of the ICPR
On 11 July 2025, the ICPR will celebrate its 75th anniversary. It is one of the oldest international water protection commissions and served as a model for the establishment of similar bodies around the world. To mark this occasion, an anniversary event will be held in Düsseldorf on 3 July 2025. Further information will be available here shortly.
Important future topics discussed at ICPR workshops
Adaptation to climate change, microplastics and sediment management are key water management challenges. Over the past 12 months, international experts have discussed solutions and good practice examples on these topics in three workshops organised by the ICPR.
International river basin commissions ICPR for the Rhine and ICPMS for the Moselle and Saar discuss solutions for current water management challenges in Luxembourg
In 2024, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg hosted the plenary assembly of the International Commission for the Protection of the Rhine (ICPR) and the International Commissions for the Protection of the Moselle and the Saar (ICPMS). Both intergovernmental commissions met in Luxembourg City on 5 and 6 December.
