For the protection and future management of endangered eel populations in Europe, the European Union adopted a regulation in 2007 with measures for the recovery of the European eel stock. This report summarises the situation of the eel population and the status of implementation of the respective national measures to stabilise the eel population in the international Rhine catchment for the period 2017-2022.
