This report summarises the evaluation of the biota monitoring in the Rhine catchment area for the years 2015 to 2023 and provides a temporal and spatial impression of the contamination situation. For example, heptachlor and heptachlor epoxide, polybrominated diphenyl ethers and mercury exceed the biota environmental quality standard (EQS) almost across the board. The data was evaluated by the Fraunhofer Institute in cooperation with the ICPR.
The ICPR expert group dealing with biota assessment will use the available results to revise the specifications for future biota surveys.
The report is only available in German, French and Dutch.
