Flood risk management plan

Flood risk management plan (to be concluded by December 2015; updates every 6 years)

Based on the flood hazard maps and the flood risk maps on river basin district level the flood risk management plan contains common aims for flood risk management (prevention, protection and preparedness, including flood forecast and early warning systems). Measures must be planned to achieve these targets. They will take into account costs and benefits, extent of flooding and overflow channels and areas potentially apt for flood retention, e.g. natural flood areas, land use and water management, regional planning, etc. The ICPR has coordinate the drafting of a single flood risk management plan on the level of the IRBD Rhine (part A: catchment area > 2.500 km²). The draft Flood risk management plan for the international river basin district Rhine is available in German, French and Dutch since December 22th 2014 for public information and consultation according to the FD. The final FRMP will be finalized and available in English by December 22th 2015.
