222. Rhine Monitoring Programme – Chemical Component 2015-2020

The Rhine Chemistry monitoring programme was first drafted for the first river basin management plan, that is, the monitoring years 2007-2012.  Due to new insights, a more vast adaptation of the Rhine Chemistry monitoring programme was required for the second river basin management period within the Water Framework Directive. It also takes into account present challenges to water protection resulting from new or recently realized pollutions due to organic micro-pollutants.

The Rhine Chemistry monitoring programme is aimed at assessing long term changes and the state of the catchment areas or the sub-basins in the Rhine river basin district as a whole.
