Data privacy

The International Commission for the Protection of the Rhine takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal information confidentially and according to legal data protection regulations as well as this data privacy statement.

As a general rule, our website can be used without revealing personal information. To the extent that personal data (e.g. name, address, email address etc.) are requested on our pages, providing such information - insofar as this is possible - is voluntary.  No personal data will be forwarded to any third parties without your express consent.

Please be aware that data transfer via the internet (e.g. during email communication) is not necessarily coded. In such cases, no seamless protection of data against access by third parties is possible.

Server-Log-Files

The International Commission for the Protection of the Rhine collects and automatically saves information that your browser transmits during your visit to our pages in so-called server log files. The following information is collected:

  • IP address of the computer emitting the request (*)
  • kind of web browser and operating system used by the client
  • information on server services used and protocol version
  • name of the downloaded file or supply page and referrer URL
  • date and time, quantity of data transmitted and status information

(*) The webserver only keeps an anonymized record of the requesting IP client address. This information is used for purposes of statistical analysis of the access to the web service.

This information is automatically deleted 7 days after the access. It is exclusively used for statistical purposes and to ensure proper operation of the services; we do not create any user profiles. No information is passed on to third parties. The ICPR service offer does not use any techniques aimed at reproducing the access habits of individual users.

Matomo

This website uses Matomo as open source web analysis service. Based on different data your browser automatically sends to our server, Matomo establishes an anonymous user profile. These data are collected for statistical purposes (range measurement) and with a view to improving our web offer. Before storing, the IP address is anonymized and cannot be traced back. Information stored is not passed on to third parties.

You can prevent the storage with corresponding browser settings.

If you do not agree with the storage and use of your data, you can deactivate storage and use here. In this case an opt-out-cookie will be placed in your browser preventing Matomo from storing user data. If you delete your cookies, the Matomo opt-out-cookie will be deleted at the same time. When re-visiting our website, the opt-out will again have to be activated.

Google Maps

On the “secretariat”-page of our web site we use a plugin of the Google Maps internet service. The operator of Google Maps is the Google Inc. established in the USA, CA 94043, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View. When using Google Maps on our website, information about the use of this website and your IP address are transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored on this server. We do not exactly know the content of the transferred data, nor how Google uses them. In this context the organisation denies a connection between the data and information from other Google services and the recording of personal data. However, Google can transfer the information to third parties. If you deactivate Javascript in your browser, you prevent Google Maps from being executed. In this case you will not be able to use any map display on our website. With the use of our website you agree to the recording and processing of information by Google Inc. as described above. Details concerning the private policy and terms of use for Google Maps are found here: https://www.google.com/intl/de_de/help/terms_maps.html.

SSL-encryption

For safety reasons and in order to protect the transfer of confidential information, such as your requests addressed to us as website operators, the International Commission for the Protection of the Rhine uses SSL-encryption. You can tell that a transmission of data has been encrypted by the change of the address in your browser from "http://" to "https://" and the padlock icon in your browser.

When SSL-encryption is activated, data you transfer to us cannot be read by third parties.

Right of access, to erasure or blocking

You are at any time entitled to free information about your stored personal data, their origin and the receivers, the purpose of their processing as well as the right to correction, blocking or deletion of your data. In this respect and concerning further questions on the issue of personal data you may at any time contact us at the address indicated in the imprint.
